The Deutschland Tour , a predecessor of the later Deutschland Tour , was held from August 6th to 19th, 1952 . It led from Frankfurt am Main back to Frankfurt over 2,811.8 kilometers. There were two rest days for 14 stages.

There were 63 drivers in five German works teams with exclusively German drivers, five national teams supported by German companies and nine drivers without team membership. 45 starters reached the finish line, with the winner covering the distance with an hourly average of 35.052 km / h.

The stages were named after individual sponsors.

For a long time it was not certain whether the tour could take place at all, as the IRA (Industry Association for the Promotion of Cycling and Cycling) was dissolved at the beginning of the year. Therefore, although the plans for a tour for next year had already been worked out, it remained the last for the time being. It was not just because Herrmann Schwartz , the organizer of the tours after the Second World War , was absent due to illness. The bicycle industry , the sole sponsor, had to realize that the financial expenditure was in no reasonable relation to the advertising effect, which was also due to the date: in 1951 the tour took place during the Tour de France , in the other years a short time afterwards. So the best-known drivers were inevitably missing, and thus the guarantee of attention.

With Isidore De Ryck , a Belgian won the tour through Germany for the first time. His compatriots Marcel De Mulder and Raymond Impanis in places 2 and 3 made the triumph perfect. Kurt Schneider from Austria won the competition for the mountain prize. From a German point of view, Heinz Müller won a total of three stages and finished the tour in fourth overall.
