Medeglia

Until November 20, 2010, Medeglia was a municipality in the Giubiasco district in the Bellinzona district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

The village is located at 706 m above sea level. M. on the right bank of the Vedeggio river. Neighboring communities were Cadenazzo , Isone , Bironico , Camignolo and Capriasca .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1195 under the then name Medellia . It communicated with the former municipality of Robasacco , now part of Cadenazzo.

Community merger

On November 25, 2007, the merger of the seven municipalities in the Vedeggio Valley was approved by the voters of five municipalities: Bironico, Camignolo, Medeglia, Rivera and Sigirino should therefore have merged to form the municipality of Monteceneri . Isone and Mezzovico-Vira rejected the merger. As a result, the State Council refrained from asking the Grand Council a compulsory merger of the two negative municipalities. Monteceneri was therefore only formed from the five consenting municipalities.
