Monteceneri is a new political municipality on November 21, 2010 in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland . It is located south of the top of the Monte Ceneri pass .

geography

The community is between 511 and 625 m above sea level. M. Neighboring communities are Torricella-Taverne , Mezzovico-Vira , Ponte Capriasca and Capriasca .

Community merger

On 25 November 2007, was the fusion of the municipalities Bironico , Camignolo , Mezzovico-Vira , Rivera and Sigirino along the main traffic axis with the branch of the Vedeggio (Valley) s located Medeglia and Isone only partially upheld by the voters of the communities.

Since Isone and Mezzovico-Vira rejected the merger and the State Council refused to propose a forced merger to parliament , the cantonal parliament decided on December 2, 2008 to form the new municipality only from the five municipalities that approved.

However, some residents filed a complaint against the merger in federal court on the grounds that the merger of five municipalities was inconsistent with the project being voted on. The Federal Supreme Court approved the complaint in November 2009 and recommended that the authorities hold a referendum on a merger of the five municipalities.

Monteceneri should be founded on the day of the municipal elections. These were postponed due to the pending merger on April 20, 2008. After the second vote, the new community was founded on November 21, 2010 from the five consenting communities Bironico, Camignolo, Medeglia, Rivera and Sigirino.

Political Affiliation

The new municipality belongs to the Lugano district . Since all the villages are located south of the pass in the Vedeggio Valley and the municipality of Medeglia, which was previously part of the Bellinzona district, had no direct road connection to Bellinzona , it makes sense.

Communance with Cadenazzo

The community Medeglia brings in the new community Monteceneri a Kommunanz , which Kommunanz Cadenazzo / Monteceneri ( BFS no. 5391). It was called Kommunanz Medeglia / Robasacco until March 2005 and had the FSO no. 5020. After the merger in the Vedeggio Valley became legally binding, it changed its name again and is now known as the Cadenazzo / Monteceneri Commune .
