Seraphic love work

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Seraphic Liebeswerk is the children's aid organization of the Capuchin Order .

The aid organization was founded in 1889 by Cyprian Fröhlich , a Bavarian Capuchin priest, together with the directors of the secular third order, Barbara Hartmann and Friedrich Kleckner, in the Capuchin monastery in Ehrenbreitstein . The suggestion for this came from Matthäus Müller, the then director of the “Knaben-Rettungsanstalt” in Marienhausen and editor of the “Franziskusblatt”. The aim of the association was to provide accommodation, care and education to the numerous “poor and neglected children” who were “religiously or morally endangered”. In July 1893 the Liebeswerk was divided into a North German and a South German section. In the same year Fröhlich founded the “St. Franziskushaus ”in Altötting , the first own children's home in southern Germany.
