Bedano is a municipality in the Taverne district in the Lugano district in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

The village is at 390 m above sea level. M. on the right bank of the Vedeggio . Neighboring communities are Lamone , Torricella-Taverne , Gravesano and Alto Malcantone .

history

The village is mentioned for the first time in 793. The St. Ambrosius Hospital of Milan exercised jurisdiction there; this right was confirmed to him in 1187 by Pope Gregory VIII . The Bishop of Como had the right to tithe.

Attractions

  • The Santa Maria Oratory was built by Antonio Rusca between 1365 and 1367
  • The San Rocco Oratory was built around 1524
  • Between Bedano and Torricella there are still the ruins of a small castle called Casletto in Valletta. The building was part of the defense system of the Vedeggio Valley and was probably built in 1418 by Count Giacomo Rusca.

Sports

  • The football club FC Bedano from 1963 merged with the Football Club Gravesano to form FC Gravesano-Bedano in 1999 .
  • In Dragon's Club eastern martial arts can be exercised.
