Lamone is a municipality in the district of Vezia in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

At the foot of the San Zeno hill (561 m above sea level) and on the left bank of the Vedeggio river, a street village that also includes the hamlet of Ostarietta . Neighboring communities are Bedano , Origlio , Gravesano , Manno TI , Torricella tavern , Cadempino and Cureglia .

history

The village was first mentioned as Namonni in 854 . A cup stone was found on the hill of San Zeno. In the 9th century the Benedictine abbey of Sant'Ambrogio of Milan , the cathedral chapter of Como , from the 15th century the dukes of Milan , 1423 the hospital Santa Maria of Lugano , the hospital San Giuseppe and 1514 the monastery owned goods and feudal rights here Sanat Maria del Carmelo in Piacenza . In 1529 the rights of San Giuseppe and the monastery of Santa Maria del Carmelo passed to the Laghi family of Lugano.
