history
In the Middle Ages, the Benedictine Abbey of San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro of Pavia in Porza was wealthy. On a hill northeast of Porza was Trevano Castle, which was probably built in the 12th century by the Bishop of Como and was owned by families from Como such as the Brocchi and later the Trevano and Quadri families . A stately villa was built on its foundations in 1871. In the Belle Époque , the glamorous world met here and musicians came to concerts. In 1934 the canton took over the villa, in 1961 it was torn down and made way for the technical center (today the University of Applied Sciences of Italian Switzerland).
