Comano is a municipality in the district of Vezia , in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

The village lies at an altitude of 511 m above sea level. M. on a hill terrace in the north-west of Lugano.

history

In 1159 the village was first mentioned in writing as Cumano . In the Middle Ages, the monastery of San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro of Pavia had a Hube (mansus) with meadows, fields and vineyards. The church of Santa Maria della Purificazione was consecrated in 1359. In 1976, the television studios of Italian-speaking Switzerland ( Televisione svizzera di lingua italiana ) were relocated to Comano.
