Erich Lindenberg

Erich Lindenberg (born September 22, 1938 in Gronau (Westphalia) , † September 14, 2006 in Berlin ) was a German painter . He lived in Munich and Berlin. His younger brother is the rock musician Udo Lindenberg .

Life

After an apprenticeship as a model draftsman , Lindenberg studied drawing at the Folkwang School for Design in Essen from 1960 and painting at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 1962 . From 1969 he worked part-time as a draftsman at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation in Munich. From 1994 he worked as a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He lived in Munich- Haidhausen on Wiener Platz . In 2006 he ended his activities in Munich, moved to Berlin and set up his studio there.

Lindenberg was found dead on September 16, 2006 in his studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg . His grave is located in the cemetery of the Dorotheenstadt and Friedrichswerder communities in Berlin.

A companion from their time together at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich founded the Erich Lindenberg Art Foundation in May 2008 , bought a house in Porza near Lugano and converted it into a museum.

Lindenberg's life's work, which has been processed in terms of art history, can be found in the catalog raisonné (from 2010).
