Gianfranco Rossi (architect)

Gianfranco Rossi (born June 8, 1927 in Lugano ; † January 24, 2013 there ) was a Swiss architect .

Life

Already in his childhood Gianfranco Rossi helped in the workshop of his grandfather Domenico and his father Dante and therefore had an early insight into the basics of the craft. He completed a basic course and then attended the Lyceum in Lugano. He received his doctorate in architecture at the Milan Polytechnic , where he worked on the construction site of the Centro Svizzero , which was designed by the Zurich architect Armin Meili . He was the owner of an architecture and sculpture studio in Lugano as well as professor of architectural history at the Scuola Superiore di Architettura in Lugano and was visiting professor at the Polytechnic Universities ETH Lausanne and Politecnico di Torino .

Rossi headed the Commission for the Cantonal Cultural Heritage of the Canton of Ticino , whose tasks mainly consist of restructuring and restoration, as well as commitment to the new sector. He is president of Movimento 22 (painter and sculptor) and since 1973 member of the Gruppo Immanentista of Ascoli Piceno .
