The Politecnico di Torino ( POLITO ; German  Polytechnic Turin ) is a state engineering technical university in the Italian city ​​of Turin with around 33,500 students and almost 900 academic employees.

history

It was founded in 1906, with its origins going back to 1859. Like many other European technical universities at the beginning of the 20th century, it took a strong part in the technical and industrial development of the country and became an engineering center of Italy .

Course offer

Within two architecture schools and four engineering schools, the Technical University of Turin offers courses in the following subjects:

Teaching is spread across a number of campuses within Turin; Since 1990, new locations in Alessandria , Aosta , Biella , Ivrea , Mondovì and Vercelli have also been used. The Polytechnic University of Turin conducts extensive university research, which is also evident from the more than 700 research contracts from companies (including Compaq , Ferrari , Fiat , IBM , Microsoft , Motorola , Nokia and Pininfarina ). The rector of the university is Guido Saracco.

To support particularly talented students, the Turin Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic founded the Alta Scuola Politecnica in 2004, with headquarters in Milan and Turin.
