The Università del Salento ( Latin : Universitas Studiorum Lupiensis ) (until 2007: Università degli Studi di Lecce ) is a state university founded in 1955 with a center in Lecce with 28,775 students. In addition to Lecce, it maintains locations in Monteroni di Lecce , Mesagne and Brindisi . The rector of the university is Vincenzo Zara .
