The University of Macerata ( Italian : Università degli Studi di Macerata ; Latin : Universatis Maceratensis ) is a state university in the Marche - based in the city of Macerata - and one of the oldest universities in Italy .

The University of Macerata is on July 1, 1540 by papal bull by Pope Paul III. was founded with the four faculties of law , theology , medicine and philosophy .

Faculties

The University of Macerata is now divided into six faculties as well as numerous departments and institutes with a total of almost 100 subjects:

Scuola Superiore

In 2008 the university founded the Scuola di studi superiori “Giacomo Leopardi” to promote particularly talented students .
