Anna Arfelli Galli (born September 9, 1933 in Ravenna ; † May 1, 2019 in Macerata ) was an Italian medical doctor and psychologist , full professor of developmental and educational psychology at the University of Macerata .

life and work

Anna Arfelli studied medicine and surgery as well as clinical psychology at the University of Bologna , where she became familiar with gestalt theory through her teacher Renzo Canestrari , one of Italy's most renowned gestalt psychologists . She belonged - like her husband Giuseppe Galli - to the "School of Bologna" of Italian Gestalt psychology. Her clinical training also included group therapy training with the group analysts Alice von Platen and Augusto Ricciardi and with the psychoanalyst Giampaolo Lai.

Her dissertation, accepted in 1957 and supervised by Canestrari, already dealt with a developmental psychological topic, namely the baby's smile. Developmental psychology and teacher training then became the two main focuses of her further teaching and research activities. Anna Arfelli Galli taught developmental psychology and educational psychology at the University of Macerata from 1971 , first as a lecturer, from 1991 to 2003 as a full university professor. After her retirement in 2003, Anna Arfelli Galli was director of the Research Center for Developmental Psychology and Education at the University of Macerata until the end of 2012. Her most recent publications deal primarily with developmental psychological research on gestalt theory. To this end, she also presented a collective overview in book form, Gestaltpsychologie und Kinderforschung (2013).

Anna Arfelli Galli was awarded honorary membership of the international society for gestalt theory and its applications in 2013 .
