Giuseppe Galli (born February 24, 1933 in Ravenna ; † September 9, 2016 ) was an Italian doctor and psychologist . From 1982 to 2009 he was Full Professor of General Psychology at Macerata University .

Live and act

After completing his medical studies at the University of Bologna , a short study stay in Austria and a specialist training in endocrinology at the University of Florence , Giuseppe Galli turned to Gestalt psychology , with which he became familiar with Renzo Canestrari at the University of Bologna from 1960 . From 1966 Giuseppe Galli taught psychology at the University of Macerata, from 1982 on the chair for general psychology, which he held until his retirement in 2009.

Galli's main research areas, with which he also became known in German-speaking countries, were the phenomenology of the ego , personality psychology and the psychology of social virtues as well as hermeneutics and intersemiotics (transferring the meaning from one system of signs to another, e.g. from the image in a text). In a large number of his contributions he devoted himself to conveying gestalt psychological methods and findings in the field of psychotherapy; His posthumously published anthology Der Mensch als Mit-Mensch (2017) identifies him as an authoritative representative of Gestalt theory psychotherapy .

Galli was a member of the Advisory Board of the international multidisciplinary journal Gestalt Theory from 1979 . In 2007 he became an honorary member of the international society for Gestalt theory and its applications .

Giuseppe Galli was married to developmental psychologist Anna Arfelli Galli , who is also a professor at the University of Macerata and who, like him, is gestalt psychological oriented.
