The journal Gestalt Theory - An International Multidisciplinary Journal ( ISSN  2519-5808 ) is a multidisciplinary scientific journal that is primarily devoted to the publication of recent research papers and papers from various areas of application of Gestalt theory. It was founded in 1979 by the international society for gestalt theory and its applications and was first published by Dietrich Steinkopff Verlag (Darmstadt), then by Westdeutscher Verlag (Opladen); 2000–2016 it was published by Verlag Wolfgang Krammer (Vienna), and since 2017 it has been published by Verlag de Gruyter . The journal is peer-reviewed and is documented in PsycINFO and PSYNDEX , among others . The journal has been published as an open access journal since 2012 and thus enables free full-text access to all articles (in the archive also to previously published issues).

The multidisciplinary journal is committed to the further development of Gestalt theory in research and application. She publishes holistic, systemic, phenomenological and experimental works from psychology and psychotherapy , education , philosophy , sociology , economics , art , music and linguistics , medicine and other human and natural science disciplines in German and English.

The magazine's editors are Fiorenza Toccafondi (Parma) and Silvia Bonacchi (Warsaw) as managing editors; also Tiziano Agostini (Trieste), Herbert Fitzek (Berlin), Jürgen Kriz (Osnabrück), Gerhard Stemberger (Vienna) and Hans-Jürgen P. Walter (Biedenkopf), as of December 23, 2016. The journal also has an international advisory service Board to which well-known scientists from various disciplines belong.
