The Aldo Moro University of Bari ( Italian : Università degli studi di Bari Aldo Moro ; Latin : Universitas Barensis ) is a state university founded in 1925 in the southern Italian port city of Bari with around 60,000 students and almost 2,000 academic employees.
The university is divided into twelve faculties . The university has branches in Brindisi and Taranto .
One of the internationally renowned institutions of the university is the Centro di Studi normanno-svevi with its conferences on the history of southern Italy in the Norman and Staufer times, which have taken place every two years since 1973. Vice-presidents of the scientific advisory board were Carl Arnold Willemsen and Reinhard Elze .
history
The university was opened by Benito Mussolini in January 1925 and named after him until 1943. On May 9, 2008, the 30th anniversary of the death of Aldo Moro , who studied in Bari and was professor of criminal law in the Faculty of Law, the university was named after its most famous student and lecturer.
