Isone (dt. Obsolete: Son ) is a municipality in the district of Sant'Antonino , in the district of Bellinzona in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .
geography
Isone is mainly known for the location of the Grenadier School (today the Special Forces Training Center) of the Swiss Army. The grenadiers are a branch of the Special Forces Command, which has been trained in Isone since 1973. Before that, the training took place in Losone .
Isone was the location of the national broadcaster Monte Ceneri , which was shut down on June 30, 1978 .
history
The chapter of the Como Cathedral was attested as the owner of goods (pastures) in Isone from 1296.
Community merger
On November 25, 2007, the merger of the seven municipalities in the Vedeggio Valley was approved by the voters of five municipalities: Bironico , Camignolo , Medeglia , Rivera and Sigirino should therefore have merged to form the municipality of Monteceneri . Isone and Mezzovico-Vira rejected the merger. As a result, the State Council refrained from asking the Grand Council a compulsory merger of the two negative municipalities. Monteceneri is thus only formed from the five consenting municipalities; Isone remains independent.
population
In 2018, the population of Isone was 398.
