Communance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A municipality is a territorial unit in Switzerland that is subject to the sovereignty of several municipalities. These are mostly uninhabited communal areas that cannot be clearly assigned to a single municipality.

history

These are relics from the Middle Ages, when several communities shared a common land or alpine pastures. Often these were reed areas that were not or could not be used intensively for agriculture and were located between the individual village communities. For example, the Neeracherried was in the common ownership of the adjacent communities until well into modern times.

Abolished Bündner Kommunanzen

In the canton of Graubünden, the community area Maienfeld-Fläsch existed until October 23, 1977 (FSO No. 3955), which belonged jointly to the communities of Fläsch and Maienfeld . It was divided between the two parishes.

Abolished Ticino communances

As of April 20, 2008, the following municipalities in Val Colla, Lugano district were abolished:

Abolished Valais Communances

The last Valais municipality, the municipality of Reckingen-Gluringen / Grafschaft (BFS-No .: 6391) in the Goms district , was established with the merger of the communities of Blitzingen , Niederwald VS , Grafschaft VS, Münster-Geschinen and Reckingen- Gluringen to the municipality Goms VS dissolved. Until December 31, 2003 it was officially called the Gluringen-Ritzingen Commune and BFS no. Worn in 6072. The name change became necessary because in 2001 the former municipality of Ritzingen with Biel VS and Selkingen had merged to form the new municipality Grafschaft VS and in October 2004 the former municipality of Gluringen with Reckingen VS had merged to form the municipality of Reckingen-Gluringen . For the intermediate phase (2001 to 2003) there was also talk of the Gluringen / Grafschaft municipality .

Current inventory

There are (as of January 1, 2017) two municipalities in the canton of Ticino . Since 2003, some of their names have been changed because the communities involved in them were involved in mergers. The communances were transferred to the new communities and now bear their names. Like a municipality, the municipalities also have a number assigned by the Federal Statistical Office .

  • One of the two remaining municipalities of the canton can be found at the upper end of the Val Colla in the Lugano district : the municipality of Capriasca / Lugano (FSO no .: 5394; until December 31, 2003: 5238). Until 2008 it was called Kommunanz Corticiasca / Valcolla (after the two municipalities involved). With the merger of Bidogno, Corticiasca, Lugaggia and Capriasca to form the municipality of Capriasca on April 20, 2008, the name changed to Kommunanz Capriasca / Valcolla . The merger of Valcolla with the city of Lugano on April 13, 2013 resulted in another name change.
  • The other remaining municipality is in the Bellinzona district : the municipality of Cadenazzo / Monteceneri (FSO-No .: 5391). It is jointly owned by the municipalities of Monteceneri (Lugano district) and Cadenazzo (Bellinzona district). Until December 31, 2003, the municipality had the municipality number 5020. Until March 2005, it was named after the then still existing municipalities of Kommunanz Medeglia / Robasacco . After the merger of Robasacco with Cadenazzo, they were then called Kommunanz Medeglia / Cadenazzo . After the municipality of Medeglia had also merged with the other municipalities of the upper Vedeggio valley to form the new municipality of Monteceneri in 2010, it was renamed again: the municipality of Cadenazzo / Monteceneri . The district affiliation of the municipality was not changed.
