Parish before the merger on January 1, 2001

The village of Ritzingen is a former independent municipality in the district of Goms in the canton of Valais . On January 1, 2001 it merged with the municipalities of Biel and Selkingen to form the municipality of Grafschaft . It has been part of the Goms community since 2017 .

history

It is documented that the village has belonged to the free court of the county of Biel since 1367 at the latest . The village should have been directly subordinate to the episcopal sovereign. Nevertheless, it is proven that the place paid taxes to the Count of Savoy in 1384. Municipal statutes from 1539, 1543 and 1555 have been preserved. In 1852, a fire destroyed five houses and several useful buildings on the eastern edge of the settlement.

Since the foundation of the parish of Biel in 1678, the place has been subordinate to it. Before that, the place was subordinate to the mother church in Münster. In the village itself there is an Anna chapel , which was first mentioned in 1645. The present building was blessed on January 2nd, 1732. In Ritzinger Feld there is a Chapel of Our Lady , which was first mentioned in 1592. On the road towards Biel there is a small Chapel of the Chapel of the Holy Helpers . The chapel was completed in April 1717. The holy water stone bears the year 1718.
