Fieschertal ( Valais German [ˈfiəʃərˌtɑu] ) is a municipal municipality and a civic municipality in the Goms district in the German-speaking part of the Swiss canton of Valais .
geography
Fieschertal lies below the Fiescher Glacier , at the end of the valley and was only accessible on foot from Fiesch until the 1960s . With an area of 17,295 hectares, Fieschertal is one of the largest municipalities in Switzerland, with 15,966 hectares in the world natural heritage area. The municipal area extends in the north to the Jungfraujoch .
Yenish families are naturalized in Fieschertal, but they live outside the municipality or live on a journey .
