The hall was built from 1989 to 1990 and opened in the fall of that year under the name Charlottetown Civic Center . It was a venue for the Canada Winter Games 1991. On September 13, 2013, the city of Charlottetown announced that the Charlottetown Civic Center will be called the Eastlink Center . The Canadian telecommunications company EastLink secured the naming rights to the event hall.
