EastLink is a Canadian cable operator and telecommunications company headquartered in Halifax , Nova Scotia , Canada . The company is the fifth largest cable operator in Canada and employs approximately 1,700 people nationwide. The company provides cable network access to 457,075 households in nine provinces. Including in the Atlantic provinces , Ontario , Quebec , Alberta , British Columbia and Bermuda . The company is privately owned.

history

1971 John Bragg founds a cable company in Amherst , Nova Scotia . In 1978, Springhill Cable TV is taken over by EastLink . 1980 Antigonish Cablevision Limited is taken over. 1983 MidValley Cable Limited is taken over. The company supplies Middleton / Greenwood / Aylesford. 1985 Halifax Cablevision Limited Eastern Canada's largest cable operator is acquired by Bragg Communications . 1989 the takeover of Viking Cable takes place . This supplies Yarmouth and surrounding communities. 1990 Seabreeze Cable is taken over. In 1992 there was a major takeover of K-Right Communications Limited . This supplies Sydney and Windsor as well as Prince Edward Island . In 1997 the first high-speed internet connection was established in the province of Nova Scotia. Bragg Communications and Halifax Cablevision Limited will merge and will be merged under the brand name Eastlink. In 1999 Lee Bragg and Dan McKeen became directors of the company. Telephone connections are also offered to the TV cable network. In 2000 EastLink's digital TV cable network was launched.
