Jacqueline Bouchard is a French costume designer .

Life

Jacqueline Bouchard grew up in Paris . She studied English and art history at the prestigious École du Louvre and took a drawing course for three years. Through a filmmaker, she made contact with a company that produced commercials. She then worked as a stylist for commercials for Kodak and Lee Cooper Jeans, among others. Her sister Catherine designed the costumes. During her twelve years as a stylist, the graphic designer and illustrator Jean-Paul Goude appeared as Jacqueline Bouchard's mentor. The French filmmaker Claude Miller entrusted her with the costume design of his film The Cheeky Girl (1985), for which Bouchard promptly received a nomination for the César in the category of best costumes . From then on, Miller and Bouchard worked together regularly, including in the film drama Die kleine Diebin (1988), in which Charlotte Gainsbourg played the lead role as in The Cheeky Girl .

Directed by other directors, she was often used in film comedies, including Dinner for Spinner (1998) and A Man Sees Pink (2001). Bouchard's final collaboration with Miller, who died in 2012, was the 1920s film Thérèse , which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012 .
