action

Charles Faulque was once a well-known writer who even won the Pulitzer Prize . When he began to drink, his wife Carole left him with their son Stanislas. Since then, Charles has only been drinking and not writing a line. He is looked after by the quiet housekeeper Louisa, who secretly loves him. One day the doorbell rings at Charles' door. In front of it stands the incarnation of his cancer, which once wanted to stop by and subsequently does not leave his side. Cancer can only be seen by a person who really loves Charles. His young lover, the Russian Evguenia, does not recognize the cancer, while Louisa sees him as a man and even cooks for him. Louisa is also the first to awaken from the rigidity: She calls Charles' family doctor, who only suspects which disease Charles has attacked. However, he advises Evguenia to get out of the villa and Evguenia follows the advice.

Shortly afterwards, Cancer joins Louisa's side, this time in the form of a woman. She tells her that she has breast cancer . Both Cancer Companions are happy with their work so far, but both recognize that Louisa's love for Charles could become a problem. Without further ado, Charles' cancer decides to develop into an incurable brain tumor. When Louisa Charles confesses her love, he gets his first cancer-related migraine. In the hospital it becomes clear that the tumor is incurable. Charles returns to his villa, where his son also arrives shortly afterwards. He too can see Charles's cancer. During the night, Stanislas lets himself be seduced by Louisa, raves about the night to his father the next day and also mentions the woman who was sitting by Louisa's bed - her cancer. Louisa will also die of cancer because it has already spread and spread to the lungs.

Charles and Louisa begin to prepare for the fight against cancer. They sleep together on a regular basis and use their closeness to develop a plan against cancer that, despite their best efforts, cannot understand their whispered words. One day, Charles takes a Rodin sculpture from the safe to show his cancer. Meanwhile, Louisa hires two intruders unnoticed by her cancer, who get into the villa at night and steal the Rodin. In the presence of the two cancer incarnations, there is a shooting between Charles, Louisa and the two burglars, with Charles and Louisa being shot. When his and her cancer see all that blood, they decide that their presence is no longer necessary. You leave the villa. Only now does it become clear that Charles and Louisa faked the attack and that the blood was the contents of a paint bag. Both pack their things and shortly thereafter leave with a small private ship. They drive off together, some alcohol in the ice cube on board.
