The Prince Edward Island Senators were a Canadian ice hockey franchise of the American Hockey League based in Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island . The Senators' venue was the Charlottetown Civic Center .

history

The New Haven Senators were relocated to Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island , after the 1992/93 season , where they were henceforth active under the name Prince Edward Island Senators as a farm team of the Ottawa Senators in the American Hockey League . After the Senators had missed the playoffs in their first season, they reached the second playoff round in the 1994/95 season, in which they failed with 2-4 wins at the Fredericton Canadiens . Although Prince Edward Island reached the playoffs for the second time in its third AHL season in 1995/96, but due to a below-average attendance average of 2300 to 2500 in the small town of Charlottetown, the Ottawa Senators were forced to cease playing in Charlottetown for financial reasons.

After six years of inactive franchise, the Ottawa Senators revived their farm team in 2002 and relocated it to Binghamton , New York , where it has since been active in the AHL under the name Binghamton Senators .
