history
After the 1983/84 season, the Moncton Alpines were bought by the Calgary Flames and renamed the Moncton Golden Flames. The team was from 1984 to 1987 for a total of three years in the American Hockey League as a farm team of the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins exist. The greatest success for the Flames was reaching the second play-of-round in 1985/86, in which, however, the Adirondack Red Wings lost 4-1 in the best-of-seven series. In the 1984/85 season you could not qualify for the playoffs. While in the season 1986/87 at least the first play-off round was reached, in which one was again defeated by the Adirondack Red Wings (2-4 in the best-of-seven series).
The Moncton Golden Flames were dissolved in 1987 and replaced by the Moncton Hawks , the farm team of the Winnipeg Jets .
