Mark William Lamb (born March 3, 1964 in Swift Current , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and coach and current official who played 473 games for the Calgary Flames , Detroit Red Wings between 1985 and 1996, among other things , Edmonton Oilers , Ottawa Senators , Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens in the National Hockey League on the position of the centerhas denied. Lamb celebrated his greatest career success in the service of the Edmonton Oilers when he won the Stanley Cup in 1990 . Since 2018 he has been the general manager of the Prince George Cougars from the Western Hockey League .
Career
Mark Lamb began his career as a hockey player in the Western Hockey League , where he was on the ice from 1980 to 1985 for the Billings Bighorns , Nanaimo Islanders and Medicine Hat Tigers . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1982 in the fourth round as a total of 72 players by the Calgary Flames . In the 1985/86 season , Lamb made his National Hockey League debut when he played for Calgary. After the season he was signed by the Detroit Red Wings . Again after just one year, the Edmonton Oilers signed the attacker in the NHL Waiver Draft , with which he won the prestigious Stanley Cup in 1990 .
After five successful years in Edmonton, Lamb was selected in the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft by the Ottawa Senators , for which he was active the following two seasons. During the 1993/94 season , the Canadian was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers , who gave him to the Montréal Canadiens after only one year . In Montréal Lamb could not prevail, so that the Canadiens at the beginning of the 1995/96 season first loaned him to the Houston Eros from the International Hockey League , which took him under contract after the season as a free agent . In the 1997/98 season Lamb was the first and only time under contract in Europe when he played for EV Landshut in the DEL . After the season, Lamb returned to the Houston Eros, with whom he won the Turner Cup in 1999 and ended his professional ice hockey career a year later.
Following his active career, Lamb first worked in the 2001/02 season as an assistant coach at his ex-club Edmonton Oilers , before he was employed in the same position at the Dallas Stars from 2002 to 2008 .
In July 2009 he took over the position of head coach and general managerx with the Swift Current Broncos from the Western Hockey League . He held this position until 2016 when he took over the Tucson Roadrunners from the American Hockey League , but only looked after the team for one season.
