Laurie Joseph Boschman (born June 4, 1960 in Major , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 1066 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs , Edmonton Oilers , Winnipeg Jets , New Jersey Devils and during his active career between 1977 and 1995 Ottawa Senators has competed in the National Hockey League on the position of the center . Boschman, who was selected in ninth overall position in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft , was the first team captain in the franchise history of the newly formed Ottawa Senators in the 1992/93 season .
Career
Laurie Boschman began his career as a hockey player with the Brandon Wheat Kings , with whom he played from 1976 to 1979 and with whom he won the President's Cup as a champion in the Western Hockey League in the 1978/79 season . The winger was then selected in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft in the first round as the ninth player of the Toronto Maple Leafs . Boschman played for Toronto for a total of three years before he was transferred to the Edmonton Oilers towards the end of the 1982/83 season , which in turn gave him to the Winnipeg Jets after just one year . Boschman stayed in Winnipeg for seven years before being transferred to the New Jersey Devils , with whom he played from 1990 to 1992. After the Ottawa Senators had signed the Canadian in the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft from New Jersey, he ended his NHL career after a season in his Canadian homeland.
After a year break, Boschman ran again for the Fife Flyers in the British Hockey League in the 1994/95 season .
