history

The association was founded in 1938, making them the oldest existing ice hockey team of the United Kingdom . In 1977, 1978 and 1985 the team was able to win the British championship . From 1982 to 1996, the Fife Flyers played for up to a year in the British Hockey League , the highest British ice hockey league at that time. Then the team was active for nine years in the second-rate British National League , which was under the Ice Hockey Superleague and its successor Elite Ice Hockey League . The Flyers won the championship title of the BNL in 1997 (North), 2000 and 2004.

For the 2011/12 season , the Fife Flyers were included in the EIHL, in which they filled the void that the Newcastle Vipers left after their dissolution and returned to the top British league after a fifteen-year absence.

The Kircaldy Kestrels , the junior team of the Kirkcaldy Ice Hockey Club, play in the Scottish National League .
