The Nova Scotia Oilers were a Canadian ice hockey franchise of the American Hockey League from Halifax , Nova Scotia . The home of the Nova Scotia Oilers was the Halifax Metro Center .
history
The Nova Scotia Oilers was founded in 1984 as the farm team of the Edmonton Oilers and adopted their logo. In a total of four seasons in the American Hockey League , the Oilers reached the playoffs three times, but were eliminated in the first playoff round. Only in the 1985/86 season were the playoffs missed.
After the 1987/88 season, the team was relocated to Sydney , Nova Scotia , where they played as Cape Breton Oilers in the AHL. The void that was left in the city was filled by the Halifax Citadels .
