Career
Jan Tábor began his career as a hockey player in his hometown Litvínov and played for HC Litvínov from 1979 to 1984 . After leaving for Germany, he played his first professional season in 1984 for the Nova Scotia Oilers , the Edmonton Oilers ' farm team , in Halifax , Canada . For the 1985/86 season he moved to BSC Prussia in Berlin in the 2nd League North, where he was under contract for two years. In the following season he was able to celebrate promotion to the then Bundesliga with the Prussians. During the 1988/89 season he moved from ESC Wolfsburg to the 2nd League South to EHC 80 Nuremberg , which was to become his home club in the following years.
Jan Tábor stayed in Nuremberg for a total of six seasons and completed a total of over 300 games for the EHC, in which he scored 165 goals, prepared 189 goals and only spent 124 minutes in the penalty box. In 1994 Tabor switched to the Sachsen Weißwasser playing community , which was playing in the DEL at the time. Even after the dissolution of the syndicate with Chemnitz , he stayed in Weißwasser , before moving to EHC Neuwied in what was then the 1st League North a year later . However, he did not stay long in Neuwied, but moved to EC Wilhelmshaven-Stickhausen after 21 games for Neuwied . It didn't last long there and after 29 match days in the 1997/98 season he was signed to ERC Hassfurt . His last position as an active player was in the 1999/2000 season at ESC Dresden, where he was one of the leading players.
Since his resignation, Jan Tábor has been the manager of the Dresdner Eislöwen, who repeatedly signed Czech players for the Eislöwen and, among other things , maintained the Czech-influenced ice hockey game in Dresden with Jiří Kochta . At the end of the 2007/08 season he personally took over the position of head coach and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. He only gave up this post in October 2008, but remained manager of the Eislöwen. At the end of January 2009, he also ended his management activity, and his contract as managing director ran until the end of April 2009.
