The EHC 80 Nurnberg is a Nuremberg Ice Hockey Club . The club's professional team was outsourced to Nürnberg Ice Tigers GmbH in 1995, one year after the founding of the German Ice Hockey League , and the EHC has served as its parent club since then - with the exception of the 2008/09 season.

history

EHC 80 Nuremberg (1980–1995)

EHC 80 Nuremberg was founded on September 9, 1980 in the restaurant of the Linde Stadium as the successor to SG Nuremberg . The founding members were former SGN officials. The most important goals should be good youth work and good management in the senior sector.

The EHC played the first game in history on October 17, 1980 against ERV Schweinfurt , which they won 7: 4 in front of 500 spectators. At the end of the season, the EHC 80 won the regional league finals against TSV Erding and celebrated promotion from the regional league to the Bavarian ice hockey league .

In 1982, the first team achieved promotion from the Bayern League to the Regionalliga Süd , a year later they rose from the Regionalliga to the Oberliga-Süd . In the following three seasons, the EHC 80 was one of the outstanding teams in this division and twice won the southern season and during the 1985/86 season the title of all-German league champions.

In 1986/87 the promotion from the Oberliga-Süd to the 2nd Bundesliga followed . The EHC 80 was also able to establish itself quickly in the second division and was one of the dominant teams in the early 1990s, but failed several times in promotion to the Bundesliga . With the establishment of the DEL and the associated reallocation of the leagues, the club got the chance to rise economically and took advantage of this opportunity. After the first season of the German Ice Hockey League, the 1994/95 season , the professional team was outsourced from the club to an independent gaming company, the Nürnberg Ice Tigers GmbH .

EHC 80 Nuremberg Amateurs (1995-2017)

While the professional team reached the play-off finals for the German championship in the following years, among other things , the EHC 80 Nuremberg ran the youth work. The senior team (amateurs) succeeded in 2006/07 - after several years of attempts - as the state league champion, the renewed promotion to the Bavarian ice hockey league, after the team finished the preliminary round of the national league group north in third place behind the Selb and Hassfurt . In the 2007/08 season, the EHC moved into the playoffs in fifth place and lost to EC Pfaffenhofen 2: 3 games. One of the team's top performers in the 2007/08 season was former DEL player Martin Jiranek , who broke his jaw twice in the third game in Pfaffenhofen.

On June 16, 2008, Nürnberg Ice Tigers GmbH announced that it was separating from EHC 80 Nürnberg as its parent club. The Höchststadt ice hockey club 93 became a new partner .

After the Ice Tigers were on the verge of bankruptcy in the summer of 2009 and changed hands, on June 4, 2009, the renewed cooperation with EHC 80 Nuremberg was announced.

In the 2008/09 season, the team succeeded in the playdowns with 14th place in the sporting league in the Bayern League. After the registration deadline in July 2009, however, the relegation of TEV Miesbach made it clear that the team would be relegated to the Bavarian ice hockey regional league as the 17th and surplus team . In the 2009/10 season, the EHC team competed in the Landesliga Nord, where they took third place in the promotion round and just missed direct promotion with just one point behind. After the 2010/11 season, the team was promoted to the Bayern League again. In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, in addition to the Bayern league team, a second team was also reported for the District League North , which was no longer reported in 2014.

After the end of the 2014/15 season, the club announced the withdrawal of the team that had again qualified for the Bayernliga into a lower league. At the end of the 2016/17 season, the EHC 80 amateur team was withdrawn from the BEV's game operations .
