The 1992/93 season of the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga was the 20th season of the second highest German ice hockey division. SB Rosenheim was the champion and thus a sporty climber in the Bundesliga , while the runner-up ES Weißwasser failed in the relegation games to the top division at EHC Freiburg . In the league of had to SC Riessersee and the EC Bad Nauheim descend.
During the season, EHC Essen-West was able to prevent the threatened withdrawal of the license due to financial problems, and a game operation at SC Memmingen was averted through an out-of-court settlement.

The German runner-up in 1993 SB Rosenheim was relegated from the Bundesliga voluntarily for financial reasons. The athletic relegated from the Bundesliga ES Weißwasser could not move up because the DEB refused the license for the Bundesliga, so that the second athletic relegated EV Landshut remained in the Bundesliga. mode
In contrast to the previous year, the league was played on a single track again. The twelve teams initially played a preliminary round in the form of a double round, so that each club played two home and two away games against the other teams. Then the top eight teams qualified for the promotion play-offs, while the last four teams had to participate in the play-downs.
The winner of the final finally qualified for the Bundesliga, the loser was also promoted to the first division by winning the relegation games against the penultimate of the Bundesliga. The winners of the first play-down round secured relegation, while the two losers contested the second round. The loser of the second round was relegated directly to the league , while the winner had to play for his place in the 2nd Bundesliga in a relegation game against the second-placed league.
