The DEL2 representatives decided to reduce the foreign contingent from five to four players. The licenses for German over 23 players have also been reduced from twelve to eleven. Conversely, this meant that the number of U23 players was increased by two to seven.
First the main round was played. The teams met each other four times in a double round in 52 games. The first six teams were directly qualified for the play-offs. The four teams in places 7 to 10 played two more participants in pre-play-offs. The four last placed played in play-downs to qualify for the next season, ie against relegation.

Pre-play-offs
In the pre-play-offs, the teams in positions 7 to 10 of the main round played two participants in the play-offs in two best-of-three series. The seventh of the main round played against the tenth and the eighth against the ninth. If the score was tied after the regular playing time of 3 × 20 minutes, after a 15-minute break an extension was made until a goal was scored.
The games took place on March 6, 8 and 10, 2015.

Play-offs
mode
The first six placed in the main round and the two winners of the pre-play-offs played the winner in three rounds and in the best-of-seven mode from March 13th to April 28th.
If games ended in a draw after the regular playing time of 3 × 20 minutes, there was an extension of 20 minutes, but only until a goal was scored. The team that scored the goal was the winner with the corresponding result. The 20-minute extensions were repeated, each with a new ice preparation and a 15-minute break, until the decisive goal was scored.
Play-off tree
In each round, the remaining best of the main round competed against the remaining worst placed in the main round and the remaining second best against the remaining second worst of the main round (etc.).
