Career

After several seasons in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (LHJMQ) with the Halifax Mooseheads , PEI Rocket and Québec Remparts , he moved to the Springfield Falcons in the professional league American Hockey League , which at the time was the farm team of the NHL club Phoenix Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning served. Boutin also played for the Johnstown Chiefs , the Springfield Falcons farm team, in the ECHL . After two seasons, Boutin moved for one season to the AHL team Norfolk Admirals , who were the farm team of the NHL team Tampa Bay Lightning at that time.

After several changes in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, which led him to the LNAH , he came to Germany and played the 2009/10 season for the Lausitzer Füchse from December onwards . Initially used as a substitute goalkeeper for the injured Ryan MacDonald , he was awarded the Jury Cup as Goalkeeper of the Year at the end of the season by the specialist ice hockey News magazine .

After a year at Lillehammer IK in the Norwegian GET-ligaen , Boutin returned to the Lausitzer Füchsen in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga for the 2011/12 season. At the end of the season he was voted the best goalkeeper in the 2nd Bundesliga by the ice hockey experts. In the 2012/13 season he was elected goalkeeper of the year for the third time and extended his contract with the Lausitzer Füchsen for another two years. After this period, the Füchse management decided not to offer Boutin a new contract.

In October 2015 he signed a contract with the DEL2 club EHC Freiburg until the end of the 2015-16 season. For the 2016/17 season, Boutin moved to the top German league, the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), to the Augsburg Panthers . The obligation was announced on May 24, 2016, on the same day Boutin was naturalized in Germany.

In April 2018, Boutin returned to the DEL2 after two years in Augsburg when he signed a contract with EC Bad Nauheim . In his third game for Bad Nauheim, he suffered another concussion and was out for the rest of the season.
