Jamie Robert MacQueen (born August 2, 1988 in London , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the German first division club Iserlohn Roosters since December 2019 .

Career history

MacQueen began his career in the second-rate junior leagues WOHL and OPJHL in his home province of Ontario , before he moved to the team of Bemidji State University , a college in the US state of Minnesota in the US college league NCAA for the 2008/09 season . There he studied business administration and was part of the BSU ice hockey team.

After graduating in 2012, he was signed by the AHL club Lake Erie Monsters for the end of the 2011/12 season and the following season . Within the organization of the Colorado Avalanche , to which the Lake Erie Monsters belong, MacQueen was also passed on to their cooperation partner in the Central Hockey League , the Denver Cutthroats , in the 2012/13 season . He scored his first AHL goal for the Monster on December 22, 2012 in the game against the Houston Eros . The 2013/14 season began MacQueen with the Utah Grizzlies in the third-rate ECHL for which he could achieve the same all five goals in their first two league games and the week was elected ECHL player. He then received from the Norfolk Admirals , the AHL team also belonging to the Anaheim Ducks Organization at that time , a trial contract and was used in 14 games (3 points, 1 goal). During the season MacQueen received trial contracts from St. John's IceCaps, also playing in the AHL, and Iowa Wild , so that he came to a total of 30 AHL appearances (11 points, 4 goals) in this season.

In October 2014 MacQueen accepted the offer of a European club for the first time and signed a trial contract with the German second division club Eispiraten Crimmitschau , which was extended to the end of the season after 14 games (13 points, 8 goals) . He had a strong season with the Eispiraten and scored 33 goals and a total of 72 points in 48 DEL2 appearances. This made him the best goalscorer of his team and finished fifth in the league after the main round in this statistic. MacQueen turned down the offer to extend his contract in Crimmitschau and switched to league rivals Kassel Huskies for the 2015/16 season , with whom he was able to celebrate the DEL2 championship this season. As the best main round scorer of his team, together with Austin Smith from the Ravensburg Towerstars, the best main round scorer in the league and top scorer in the play-offs, Jamie MacQueen played a significant role in this championship.

After two successful seasons in DEL2, MacQueen switched to the highest German ice hockey league DEL for the 2016/17 season and signed a one-year contract with Eisbären Berlin . Already in his first DEL season 2016/17 he proved to be a solid 20-point player. He was able to increase this average in the following final season 2017/18 to 35 points (+14 points in the play-offs ) and was even the most successful goalscorer with 21 goals after the main round of the 2018/19 season , despite a 6-week injury break the polar bear. Only because of his values in the plus / minus balance , he was partially accused of poor defensive behavior.

After the end of the 2018/19 game year, he left the polar bears and was signed by DEL competitor Schwenninger Wild Wings in April 2019. On November 19, 2019, the Schwenninger Wild Wings reacted to the sporting situation with the immediate suspension of MacQueen, among other things. The parties agreed not to disclose the reasons for this decision. In December 2019 he was signed by DEL competitor Iserlohn Roosters .
