Mike Hoeffel (born April 9, 1989 in North Oaks , Minnesota ) is an American - German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League since March 2019 .
career
Hoeffel was born in North Oaks, a small town in the US state of Minnesota. His father is of German descent, his ancestors lived in the Leipzig area .
After high school in Minnesota, he took part in the 2006/07 season in the US U18 national team. In the 2007 NHL draft , the New Jersey Devils secured his rights. Between 2007 and 2011 he played for the University of Minnesota ice hockey team and studied economics and marketing. In his first university season (2007/08) Hoeffel played alongside the later German national player Evan Kaufmann .
In March 2011, he signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils, but until the end of the 2013/14 season should only be used by the farm team of the NHL club, the Albany Devils , in the American Hockey League (AHL). Between 2014 and December 2015, he was on the ice for another AHL representative, the Springfield Falcons . At the end of 2015, Hoeffel was signed by the Norwegian club Stavanger Oilers . With the Oilers he became Norwegian champion.
In July 2016, the Eispiraten Crimmitschau announced Hoeffels commitment from the DEL2 . He scored eleven goals in 27 league games and prepared eight before receiving an offer from Fischtown Pinguins in December 2016 : He used an exit clause to switch to the north German DEL club.
After three seasons in Bremerhaven, he switched to the Iserlohn Roosters for the 2019/20 season .
