The National Team Development Program ( NTDP ; in part also USNTDP ) of the US Ice Hockey Association USA Hockey is a program to promote talented young players from the United States . It was founded in 1996 and has been based in Plymouth since 2015 .
concept
The National Team Development Program was set up to centrally support talented ice hockey players under the age of 18. The members, who generally spend two years in the program, attend Ann Arbor Pioneer High School and stay with host families. In the sporting area, the players are assigned to either the U17 or U18 team. The U17s play in the Eastern Conference of the United States Hockey League (USHL), while the U18s do not belong to any regular league games and instead pit themselves against teams from the USHL and from the NCAA conferences . Until 2010, however, the teams played in the North American Hockey League . In addition, the squads of both teams function essentially as the country's junior national teams, representing the United States at junior world championships and other international tournaments.
The teams are coached by John Wroblewski (U17) and Seth Appert (U18). Its home games wearing the team 2015 in Ann Arbor Ice Cube from Ann Arbor out, however, the organization moved to the beginning of the season 2015/16 Plymouth to. There, the teams will play in the USA Hockey Arena , which the association had previously acquired and named after itself and which primarily offers more space for tournaments and similar events.
