The College Hockey America (CHA) is an American university - and college sports league . It currently consists of six women's ice hockey teams from the states of Missouri , New York and Pennsylvania . It belongs to the Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and is a pure Hockey - Conference . The league was founded in 1999 as an all-male league. The men's league, which had seven teams at the beginning, was discontinued after the 2009/10 season. The women's league was founded for the 2002/03 season with four teams.
