history
On April 18, 2013, the Minnesota Wild announced that Minnesota Sports & Entertainment could not reach an agreement with the owners of the Toyota Center - the home of the Houston Eros - regarding further occupancy. The organization then decided to relocate the farm team to Des Moines , Iowa , where the team will compete under the name Iowa Wild in the Wells Fargo Arena.
The Wild are the second team from Des Moines to play in the American Hockey League . Previously, between 2005 and 2009, the Iowa Stars , who played under the name Iowa Chops in their last season , were active in the top-class minor league in ice hockey.
The first competitive game in their short club history played the Wild in a 1-0 home win in front of 10,213 spectators against the Oklahoma City Barons . Brett Bulmer marked the only hit .
