The Baltimore Bandits were an American ice hockey franchise of the American Hockey League based in Baltimore , Maryland . The venue for the bandits was the Baltimore Arena .

history

The Baltimore Bandits were founded in 1995 and closed the gap that had arisen in the American Hockey League when the Baltimore Skipjacks were relocated to Portland as Portland Pirates . In the two seasons in which the bandits played in the AHL, they each reached the playoffs and were only eliminated in their premiere season in the second playoff round against the Syracuse Crunch with a score of 3: 4 in the best-of-seven series. In the following season it was only enough to a first round off against the Philadelphia Phantoms , when they clearly lost 3-0 in the best-of-five series. After two years, the team was relocated to Cincinnati , Ohio in 1997 and renamed the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks , as the team henceforth served as the farm team of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim .
