The Adirondack Flames were an American ice hockey franchise based in Glens Falls , New York . They played exclusively in the 2014/15 season in the American Hockey League (AHL) and served as the farm team of the Calgary Flames .

history

The Abbotsford Heat AHL farm team of the Calgary Flames from the National Hockey League relocated to Glens Falls after the 2013/14 season , as the lease for the Abbotsford venue was not extended by the local city council. With the move, the team was renamed Adirondack Flames.

The Adirondack Flames were after the Adirondack Red Wings (1979-1999) and the Adirondack Phantoms (2009-2014) the third AHL franchise in Glens Falls. From 1999 to 2006, the Adirondack IceHawks or Frostbite from the United Hockey League played in the city.

They cooperated with the Calgary Flames from the NHL and with the Colorado Eagles from the ECHL . After just one year, as part of a major restructuring of the AHL, the move of the franchise to Stockton , California was announced, where the team will henceforth operate as Stockton Heat . The team swapped places with the ECHL team Stockton Thunder so that the Adirondack Thunder are now playing in the ECHL in Adirondack .

In their only season, the team did not qualify for the playoffs; The coach was Ryan Huska .
