The Louisville Panthers were an American ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League based out of Louisville , Kentucky . The Panthers' venue was Freedom Hall .

history

The Louisville Panthers in 1999 as the farm team of the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League was founded. After the 2000/01 AHL season, the Panthers were inactive until the team resumed play in the AHL in 2005 as Iowa Stars - standing in cooperation with the Dallas Stars . In the 1999/2000 premiere season, the team reached the first round of the playoffs for the Calder Cup , in which, however, they lost 3-1 to the Kentucky Thoroughblades in four games . The following season the Panthers did not reach the playoffs and with 50 points in the regular season clearly missed the previous year's mark of 92 points.
