history
The Philadelphia Arrows from the Canadian-American Hockey League changed their name in 1935 in Philadelphia Ramblers, as they the farm team of the New York Rangers of the American Hockey League were. After the Canadian-American Hockey League merged with the International Hockey League to form the International -American Hockey League in 1936 , the Ramblers also moved to the new league after they had previously won the CAHL championship in the 1935/36 season. In the final they won against the Providence Reds, who had also moved to the IAHL .
In their first AHL season, the Ramblers reached the final, but lost to the Syracuse Stars with 1: 3 wins. After Philadelphia failed in the second playoff round the following year, it reached the finals of the Calder Cup for the second time in the 1938/39 season , but lost again. This time the team had to admit defeat to the Cleveland Barons 1: 3 in the best-of-five series.
Subsequently, the Ramblers missed the playoffs twice and the New York Rangers ended their collaboration with the franchise, which was then renamed the Philadelphia Rockets . From 1955 to 1964 another team played in the Eastern Hockey League under the name Philadelphia Ramblers, but had nothing in common with the AHL franchise.
