The Saint John Flames were a Canadian ice hockey team from Saint John , New Brunswick that played in the American Hockey League from 1993 to 2003 . The team was at this time the farm team of the Calgary Flames from the NHL , which the previous team Utica Devils had initially bought and eventually relocated to Saint John.
history
After the relocation, the Flames stood for the first time in 1998 in the final of the Calder Cup , the championship of the AHL, but the series was lost to the Philadelphia Phantoms . In 2001 the Saint John Flames finally won the cup with a 4-2 win against the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , the farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins . The sixth and decisive game was won in the Harbor Station , the home stadium of the team.
In 2005 the team was finally relocated to Omaha , Nebraska , where it was active for two seasons under the name Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights . For the 2007/08 season , the franchise was relocated again, this time to the Quad Cities , where it ran under the name Quad City Flames .

A large number of Saint John Flames players have played successfully in the NHL. For example, in the 2004 Stanley Cup final , Calgary Flames versus Tampa Bay Lightning , there were 17 players on the ice who had previously played in the Saint John Flames.
