Career
Jeff Cowan began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , in which he was active from 1993 to 1996 for the Guelph Storm and Barrie Colts . During this period he received a contract with the Calgary Flames on October 2, 1995 as a free agent . Initially, however, the attacker played for three years exclusively for their farm teams , the Saint John Flames from the American Hockey League and Roanoke Express from the East Coast Hockey League , before he made his debut in the National Hockey League for Calgary in the 1999/2000 season . In his rookie year , the left-handed shooter scored five points in 13 games.
On December 18, 2001, the Calgary Flames transferred the Canadian to their league rival Atlanta Thrashers , for whom he played in the NHL for the next two years. It was then given to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Kip Brennan shortly before the end of the trade deadline in the 2003/04 season . At the beginning of the 2006/07 season , Cowan moved to the Vancouver Canucks , where he did not receive a new contract in 2008, so that he was only on the ice for the Peoria Rivermen in the AHL in the 2008/09 season .
On August 20, 2009, Cowan received a one-year contract with the Buffalo Sabers from the NHL.
In August 2011, Cowan signed a contract with the Iserlohn Roosters .
