The New Haven Senators were an American ice hockey franchise of the American Hockey League based in New Haven , Connecticut . The Senators' venue was the New Haven Coliseum .

history

The New Haven Nighthawks went to the 1991/92 season a collaboration with the newly established Ottawa Senators one whose farm team from the American Hockey League they were then. Because of this, the franchise was renamed New Haven Senators. Under this name, the team played in the 1992/93 season in the AHL and missed in its first and only season the playoffs for the Calder Cup as fifth in the North Division. After just one year, Ottawa relocated its farm team to the small Canadian town of Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island , where it was now active as Prince Edward Island Senators in the AHL.

The void left by the New Haven Senators in Connecticut was created by the two AHL clubs Beast of New Haven (1997–1999) and Bridgeport Sound Tigers (since 2001), as well as the New Haven Knights from the United Hockey League (2000– 2002) filled.
