The As de Québec were a Canadian ice hockey franchise of the American Hockey League from Québec City , Québec . The venue of the As was the Québec Coliseum .
history
The As de Québec were founded in 1928 and initially played for eight years in the Quebec City Railway-Paper League . The team then played for another eight years in the Quebec Amateur Hockey Association , winning the Allan Cup in 1944 . That year, the team also joined the Quebec Senior Hockey League , in which they initially played until 1953. Subsequently, the league became semi-professional and was renamed the Quebec Hockey League . Québec also entered this, which it won in 1954 and 1957. The team also won the Edinburgh Trophy in 1957 .
In 1959, Québec was given the opportunity to join the American Hockey League . Following the franchise missed four consecutive playoffs before the As in the 1963-64 season for the first time the final of the Calder Cup reached where they in a sweep in the best-of-seven series to the Cleveland Barons defeated . Then Québec was eliminated three times in a row in the first round before the newly formed Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League entered into a cooperation with the Canadians in 1967. In the 1967/68 and 1968/69 seasons, the team reached the playoffs again, but lost both times to the Rochester Americans and the Hershey Bears .
In 1971 the Philadelphia Flyers decided to relocate their farm team to Richmond , Virginia , where they were now active as Richmond Robins in the AHL.
