The Montréal Voyageurs were a Canadian ice hockey team from Montreal that played in the American Hockey League from 1969 to 1971 .
history
The Montréal Voyageurs were founded in 1969 as a franchise of the American Hockey League . In their first season they were instant winners of the East Division. In the following playoffs for the Calder Cup , they first defeated the Baltimore Clippers before they failed in the second round in a round-robin to the Buffalo Bisons and Springfield Kings . In the 1970/71 season they moved into the playoffs as second in their division, but failed there in the first round by a sweep in the best-of-five series at the Springfield Kings.
After only two years, the franchise was relocated to Halifax , Nova Scotia , in 1971 , where it then took part in the AHL's gaming operations under the name Nova Scotia Voyageurs .
